We are all set for the new ISO Standard Safety Signs

01/12/2018

From 1st January 2019

In A-SPE we always keep up with the latest regulations, therefore we would like to inform that:

under the new IMO resolution A.1116 (30) on Escape Route Signs and Equipment Location Markings, held in December 2017, all ships constructed from 1st January 2019 or all existing ships which undergo repairs, modifications and outfitting within the scope of SOLAS chapters II-2 and/or III, as applicable, are recommended thereafter to follow the new ISO Standard for Safety Signs.

New symbols for safety signage

The IMO has adopted the new symbols for safety signage (ISO 24409 and ISO 7010) developed by the ISO Committee on Graphical Symbols in order to ensure uniformity and recognizability of safety signs. The new resolution covers over 100 signs that have been altered. The alterations are not very significant, which can be shown in the above example.

Whatever your choice, we have it. We are ready to supply our customers with the new ISO Standard safety signs. However, the old type of IMO signs will be still available upon request to keep consistency by existing vessels.
