Product decription
NoRust Zinc Anti-corrosive Tape is a flexible and self-adhesive material composed of the high-purity zinc mass, special adhesive layer and release liner. It has been designed to ensure anti-corrosive protection for metal elements made of steel, iron and light alloys.
The adhesive layer of NoRust Zinc Tape has a special composition that combines glue and zinc powder to provide electro-conductive properties. This ensures that zinc is in constant electrical contact with the protected metal. Properly installed NoRust-Zinc Tape offers a long time protection which, in most situations, will last for the lifetime of the protected object.
Available in two options
NON-ELECTRO CONDUCTIVE
Only passive protection.
This version of the product is equipped with a regular adhesuve without electro conductive properties. It offers only a PASSIVE protection, as zinc layer creates a barrier coating on the protected surface..
ELECTRO CONDUCTIVE
Passive and active protection.
This version of the product is equipped with special electro conductive adhesive. It offers a double anti-corrosive protection, both PASSIVE and ACTIVE, as the zinc in combinations with the electro-conductive adhesive acts as a sacrificial anode corroding instead of the protected element.
Fields of application
The easy installation and minimum maintenance requirements are the main reasons for wide range for use of the zinc anti-corrosive tapes. They are used in the production facilities like refineries and petrochemical plants where difficult environmental conditions create high risk of corrosion.
Zinc Tapes are a good alternative in the areas where traditional methods – like anti-corrosive painting – cannot be performed due to the inability of proper surface preparation, including sandblasting.
Zinc Tapes are a good method of protecting the connections of light alloys and steel materials which is a frequent issue in the automotive and train industry. The contact point of the light alloy and steel is often subjected to corrosion. The installation of NoRust Zinc Tape between these two layers eliminates the risk of corrosion.
- Industrial tanks and pipelines (refineries and petrochemical plants)
- Automotive and transport industry (cars, planes, trains, ships, bridges)
- Marine industry (onshore and offshore)
- Hinges and bolted connections

Behaviour on metal surface

Zinc is more electrochemically active than iron. When you cover steel with zinc tape, the zinc will serve as the anode for the steel. This prevents the formation of small anodic and cathodic regions on the surface of the metal, which significantly reduces the development and spreading of corrosion.
Zinc also acts as a sacrificial coating, it will always tarnish and corrode first. This differs significantly from coatings that consist of materials such as paint or aluminum where the corroding steel undercuts the coating over time and reduces its effectiveness.
Structure of the zinc tape
Zinc tape consists of 3 layers:
- zinc
- pressure sensitive adhesive
- release paper
Adhesive layer is additionally filled with zinc particles.

Installation instructions
SURFACE PREPARATIONS
- The surface must be dry and free from corrosion, loose coatings and loose corrosion elements.
- Surface with visible light or medium corrosion needs to be cleaned by mechanical or manual wire brushing.
- In order to achieve an optimum functionality of NoRust Zinc tape it is important to ensure direct contact between NoRust Zinc Tape and steel.
- Do not apply NoRust Zinc Tape when the air or metal temperate is less than 3˚C or within 3˚C of the dew point. Exposure temperature should be between -40 and +160˚C.
INSTALLATION
Zinc Tape is applied directly onto the steel structure. During the installation on flat surfaces, apply the tape on the whole surface with an overlap of a minimum 20 mm. To protect irregular shapes, Zinc tape needs to be cut to the required dimension. Apply the tape carefully to avoid air bubbles or creases. Very good adhesion is achieved by using magnetic roller applicator. The application of NoRust Zinc Tape on pipes is the fastest and most efficient when carried out by a wrapping machine. On structures where it is not possible to use the wrapping machine with tape dispenser, Zinc Tape needs to be cut and hand-applied.
Maintenance and storing
Material should be stored in a dry and cool area and used within 16 months after goods receipt. It is recommended to store the rolls in the original packaging.
